The history of ZORRO, the rock trio from basel, switzerland begins in april 2002.
After the questionable split of Markus Gisin's previous band LUNAZONE in march 2002, he went on the lookout for musicians for his new musical project. Questionable, because LUNAZONE were on the verge of a breakthrough, which - with their Jack Endino produced album "Rockahula" - was almost inevitable.
The drummer was found quickly; LUNAZONE sound technician and ex-HELL MUTE drummer, Michael Hediger. For the first jam session, Marco Redolfi helped out on bass. He'd already played in a number of bands in the Basel region, but none of them captured what he'd imagined musically.
They met on a regular basis in the practice room. During the first sessions they had already ripped through their first songs. They built up a homogeneity they would never had dreamed of, partly due to their efficient work ethic and musical understanding for each other. So the search for further musicians was finally put to an end. ZORRO rocks. Full Stop.
They invested hours and hours in experimenting - in search for a big, powerful sound, something not easily achieved as a trio. The first proof of what ZORRO are capable of, is their first 6-track demo "1st RACE". The demo was recorded live in their practice room. Vocals and guitar-solos were the only overdubs, whereas a great deal of attention was made to make them sound live and raw.

After a first promo-tour with "1st RACE" at the Popkomm 2002 in Cologne, first doors have opened for ZORRO: the 6 songs were remastered and released as a 10" vinyl and EP.

The promotion is in best hands with Romy Ruaras of Evil Bitch 666 (check out: http://www.evilbitch666.com), she takes care of bands like Nebula, Supersuckers, Hermano or Gaza Strippers.
"1st RACE" sends ZORRO off in their first race for live shows ad the promotion of their first release. Tour bus ad band are ready to hit the road. USA is on the agenda for 2003; after a West-Coast tour, the band will record their first full length-album with Jack Endino in Seattle. But for now, live shows are their absolute priority.
